In some cases with AV in particular you have to install and uninstaller, but dont know that to be the case with Avast, per se. Avast stays permanently open and I've tried to turn off the Persistent Mode and I cannot find where to do this or if it is available. Yes, as above, just deleting the folder isnt a clean uninstall option and generally causes issue with the uninstaller. Select the folder containing your Avast program files.
